how to automatically optimize your hard drive
Do you want to improve your computer speed ? Well one of the things you must do inorder for the fastest speed your computer can give, is to optimize your hard drive. It is one of the keys to system performance.
You see, each day you keep on adding and deleting files, software and applications into your hard drive. As time passes, these files and applications gets scattered onto your hard drive, onto different sectors. Your computer then needs a little bit more seconds, each time you need to access your files and data. What you need to do is set up a weekly schedule to optimize your hard drive.
Now here's the good part. Suppose I tell you, there's an automatic way to optimize your hard drive, instead of devoting time each and every week for tweaking the performance of your hard disk drive by using the default Windows Defrag system utility which is available in Programs->Accessories->System Tools
There's a very good registry setting that will automatically force Windows to optimize your hard drive and its location of files whenever your computer is sitting idle.

Here is how it you do it.
Caution : Before you start editing Registry Files, it would be a good idea to make a backup copy of it. Else if you are a newbie, and have no idea about registry and its settings, take help from a computer expert.
1. Click Start->Run and type RegEdit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ OptimalLayout
2. You will find a string named EnableAutoLayout. Change its data value to 1. (Suppose you do not find this string, then you will have to create it and then set its value to 1.)
3. Exit the utility RegEdit, then reboot your computer and you are finished.
This will keep your hard drive optimized automatically, whenever it is idle. Get great performance and great speed. Happy computing!
