How to Remove one operating system from a dual boot WINDOWS XP operating system
It is easy to install two operating system in windows xp on the same hard disk of one computer
If you have 2 copies of window xp or two different operating systems, then you will end up with dual boot machine when you restart your windows xp computer
1) First I will let you know what do we mean by dual boot system , it means that system gives you a choice of 2 copies of operating system installed on one machine eg. x & y. It will offer you to choose either x or y to boot if it is a dual boot machine. It is sometimes useful to have windows xp & Linux operating systems to be installed on the same computer.
But suppose if you have 2 windows xp copies on the same hard disk, than you will see that the system performance is rather slow .
Now suppose if you want to exclude or delete one window xp copy and leave only one, here are some easy steps to be followed:
When you restart your system, you will get choices of 2 operating system, it is up to you choose the one you want to keep installed on your machine.
As soon as the start up process is over, and your pc is ready to accept tasks to perform functions click on the “ My computer’’ icon & locate the hard disk drive. In the hard disk box you will see 2 drive icons like “C’’ & “D"
Now if the windows XP which you are currently using is in “C” it is very safe to delete the other windows xp os which is residing in "D" It is very simple to get rid of copy. Just format the ”D” part of the hard disk. Do right click and select the format. This will automatically delete the copy which you do not need.
CAUTION : Please format your harddisk with care. This formatting can delete all of your data which is in the "D" part. If you are unsure of what you are doing, please consult a pc technician or get expert help.

Finally, last but not least, what is being explained to you can have two operating systems installed on your windows xp machine, which helps you to have a choice of loading one of two operating systems.
The positive part or you can say a good thing about this system is that you are given choices of your own which one you want to keep it installed and which one you want to delete.
