How to keep my Password Safe 

Nowadays as we go through the web, there are plenty of informational and membership websites, bank accounts and other sites where we have to fill up forms and enter password. It becomes difficult to keep our password safe.

Since through computers our contact with each other has become has become easier. Though Internet system has made easier to access information it has caused our personal information more vulnerable to attacks. As we being the member of cyber space our personal information can be easily available to anyone but only if our password is not strong.

So in order to keep our self and our identity secret our password should be such that no one can easily avail them. As you know there are different login accounts for chats, e-mail, forums, bank accounts, newspaper subscriptions and online dating.

Suppose if you keep different passwords for different accounts then it is possible that you may mingle up with so many passwords.So instead we use simple reminders like our children’s name or our birthdays so that we don’t have to use various passwords for all our login. Hackers know and rely on people to do this. Some of these are few tips to avoid being a victim:

Make your passwords stronger:

Microsoft says that password longer than14-character is ideal. If the password is longer, it is more difficult and time consuming to hack. Strong password consists of case-sensitive letters and numbers and is at least eight letters long.

See that you don’t use such words that can be found in dictionary. Hackers use a dictionary attack method by which it goes through the entire dictionary, and trying to guess a password. This method hardly takes lee than a day to crack a password.

Let me tell you, another common hacking method is Brute Force. Though this method is more time consuming than dictionary attack but not impossible.In this method it goes through all combination of keys on keyboard. If password is longer it is difficult to hack.

Another thing is weak passwords are those that includes family names ,addresses, pet names, high school name,123456, ABCDEF or any combination. Mind you that never ever leave the field plain blank. Through this fire way a stranger can get into your personal information.

Remember that in creating a strong password don’t make mistake in forgetting your new password. Not only hackers but it will be impossible for you also to get your personal information. Creating new password should be such that it must make meaning to you only. I will, suggest that use the first letter of phrases, song lyrics, poetry or make up license plate saying for example “Not to be forgotten” change it to “Knot 2B4go

It is better to use this password immediately and frequently so that you can memorize it quickly. It is argued whether to write or print down the password, it is said that if it is a hard copy anyone can hack your password. If you decide to print a master copy make sure that you lock it in safe that you can only have a key to it.

Change of password :     

There are lots of people who wish to access your bank codes and credit card information so it is better to change your password regularly, I mean changing them once every month or two. Microsoft suggests changing every 1 or 3 months. You may find annoying changing password and also time consuming but it is the safest way to surf the internet.
