Start a Home Computer Repair Business Around Spyware Removal
So how is the PC repairs market for home and small business users these days? It’s been a good 4-5 years since I’ve had to support any and back then it was pretty huge.
It seems so far removed from big offices with corporate firewalls, enterprise level anti virus software and network policies. Even the most troublesome of users now find it hard to breaking their computers with silly smileys, screensavers and other funky little widgets that have absolutely no place on their company’s network.
So who looks after the little guys and gals? – The ISPs mostly. And they only support the services they provide which is only fair when you come to think of it.
If one thing’s for sure it’s a dangerous web out there and it’s not getting any safer. The ongoing cat and mouse game between malware creators and anti-malware creators only creates more sophisticated threats.
I feel for the small businesses and sole traders who are just trying to make a go of things - they deserve a fair chance. Even the most careful aren’t safe from the new innovative security breaches that keep popping up.
And then there’s the matter or the post disinfection fallout. These clever and covert bugs that install themselves so surreptitiously don’t like to be ousted without a fight. In fact the messes they leave behind can often be devastating.
Who does the small business/home user person call then? Their ISP? What they need is someone experienced and knowledgeable to go and actually see them in person and deal with the whole situation from start to finish.
That is – arrive with the means to back up all critical data (USB external hard drive) as step #1, quickly diagnose the fault and find the best course of action, mop up any mess left behind and recommend future preventative measures.
And they should do it all with a nice smile, reassuring manner in a timely fashion at a reasonable rate. Doesn’t sound that hard does it?
So why aren’t more people making a computer repair business out of this? The market is booming for people who are on hand to go and actually visit people in person and deal with their problems.
Some PC repairs just can’t be done remotely and malware removal is definitely one of them.
